In Order To Be Licensed As A Hairdresser, Esthetician, Or Nail Technician In The State Of Alaska, Students Must Complete The Requirements Listed Below. Please Contact The Alaska Division Of Occupational Licensing For More Information. Requirements ; Hairdresser: 1650 Hours, Apprenticeship, With A Licensed Instructor, 2000 Hours ; Manicurist: 250 Hours (Advanced Manicurist Requires 12 Hours In Addition To Completing A Course Of Study In A School Approved By Board. ; Cosmetician: 350 Hours ; Esthetician: 350 Hours Or Apprenticeship Are Required For Licensing ; Must Have Completed 1650 Hours. Alaska Will Grant Credit For Work Experience (500 Hours For Each Year In The Field). Note: A Cosmetologist In Alaska May Only Do Facial, Hair Removal And Make-Up. A Hairdresser Only Works With The Hair. Two Licenses Would Be Required To Do All These Procedures.
